Ninetails Print by Puppy-Chow Ninetails Print by Puppy-Chow
So I was gonna put this under "Fan Art" but there's nothing in that category for printmaking! I guess not a lot of prints are made of fan-related material, at least not enough to allow a category for it.

Anyway, I've been working on a new side project, of pokemon linocuts and woodcuts! This is the first one I did, just as a test run. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I look forward to working on more.

I'll probably post a poll about this later, but what pokemon would you want to see in print form? I have many in mind, and not all will be completed (there's just so many) right now, but any and all suggestions are welcome! I just really want to get a feel for what people would want to buy, or look for, since these are going to [hopefully] be sold at the next Acen.

Also, I am pretty quick with these, so if you're interested in a print, let me know! I'll be selling these before and after next Acen in May, so don't be shy if you want one now. ^_^

Awww, thanks! I haven't made any in so long, and with the new games that have come out, I would have so much to work with... and Yveltal and Zernes are so damn pretty... *looks at the pile of OTHER art projects I'm currently working on* *sigh*

This is totally legit. If I had money, I would buy one....but I don't. So I leave you with high praise, and a plea to continue with your pokemon prints

This is really creative and neat-looking. Hopefully I'll be going to ACEN again next year, so I might even see these woodcuts there. Good luck with that! :D

Oh that would be so fun! Definitely look for my booth (we're in the waiting list period right now, haha), and stop by, when the time comes! I should have quite a few more than just one print by next year, lol. ;) Of course all of them will be viewable here as well, and I'll put up pricing on them so people can buy them offline, not just through Acen or other cons. ^_^

Oh my goodness! This is just spectacular! Would love to see more in your style (especially Nidoking!!)

Such an under appreciated art form! I remember doing a bit of it in my college art classes, it was incredibly relaxing and cleansing.

Looks amazing! :D I've never seen a Pokemon woodcut before. Printmaking is something I'd really like to try sometime.

It's actually a linocut, which is softer than wood, and can be carved at smaller sizes (and is more readily available for people who are just starting out in printmaking). I do work in wood though, and I would LOVE to do a larger woodblock based on pokemon in the future. Especially of the Sinnoh pokemon (Arceus, Giratina, Palkia, Dialga), or of the Unova legends. There's all sorts of possibilities with pokemon. ^___^

Ah OK, thanks for clarifying. Maybe I'll learn how to do it sometime in the future ^^

Please do! It can be a very relaxing and enjoyable art form. Many schools provide linoblocks in their art curriculum, so check it out and see if your art teacher has anything left over, or if you can learn something that way. Lino is also nice in that you dont necessarily need an expensive press to get your results; just the use of your hands, perhaps a wooden spoon, and some pressure. ^__^

That is just awesome. I've done a little bit of printmaking and found it to mostly be a pain in the butt, so you have my respect for this project.

Also it's incredibly awesome.

Epic. Apart from the tails I can't tell if it's ninetails or okami.

Thanks! I don't see many people doing printmaking with anything anymore, which is a shame, it's a wonderful and really fulfilling medium!
